Like all ultrasound studies, the 3D / 4D uses high frequency sound waves to create images that can be viewed on a monitor screen, With 3D / 4D scan you are able to see your baby in a 3D, life-like image, instead of the more familiar 2D or flat, black and white image. With our 3D Live, we can view the baby smiling, yawning or sucking his/her thumb.
Prenatal ultrasound has been used widely over the last 35 years and there have been no reported adverse effects using intensities the FDA have stated were safe. 3D ultrasound will be performed only by nationally credentialed individuals.
We accept major credit cards, debit cards and cash. Since this is not a diagnostic procedure, insurance companies will not pay for your scan. Our service should be considered more in the line of pictures taken at a photography studio.
You should plan on 45 minutes for your appointment. The actual scanning time will be 20-30 minutes. We allow extra time in case your baby is uncooperative we will be able to have you do some things that we find helpful in these situations, such as walking, drinking juice, etc.
We welcome your family and friends to share the joy of this once in a lifetime experience. We have comfortable seating for 3 additional adults. Siblings are also welcomed and if they get restless, they may enjoy the videos or toys in the waiting area.
Many factors are involved in obtaining clear image. At First Fetal Photos we use a state of the art Medison ultrasound system and highly qualified sonographers exclusively in obtaining images that are clear to non-technicians.
Some Factors include:
- Fetal Position – It may be difficult to get a clear image if the baby is persistently looking face down, cuddled up to the placenta or uterine wall, or hiding behind their hands or feet. Sometimes a short walk or bit of juice will help the baby to move.
- Maternal Tissue – The more tissue the sound waves need to travel through, the less contrast the resulting images have.
- Fetal Activity – The best still 3D photo results come when baby is asleep or still, although it is fun to see the baby in motion.
- Gestational Development – In 3D, some babies are best seen at 20 weeks and others at 36 weeks, regardless of maternal tissue or other factor. Babies are simply different.
